COVID-19 SAFER Business Pledge

Our local businesses that take the pledge for SAFER actions are committing to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Through safety standards outlined by the CDC, Ohio Department of Health, and the Kent City Health Department, they will ensure the safety of their customers and their employees. 

Businesses adhere to SAFER actions by assuring their employees comply to the following criteria:



Always clean hands

Always clean hands.

Employees will clean their hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds or alcohol hand rub. Customers are asked to do the same.

Face masks required


Face masks. 

When face coverings are required for employees. We encourage unvaccinated and not yet fully vaccinated customers to also wear facial coverings.

Employees clean and sanitize


Employees clean and sanitize. 

Surfaces and equipment will be regularly cleaned and disinfected.

Regularly monitor health


Regularly monitor health. 

Employees must self-monitor daily for symptoms of COVID-19.

Take the pledge


When business owners take the pledge, they are helping to stop the spread of COVID-19 while allowing patrons to enjoy all Kent has to offer. Business owners can read the full pledge here. 

Sign the pledge to be a SAFER business. To be approved as a SAFER business, you must upload a signed copy of the pledge when submitting the form.


After receiving an email confirming your business is a SAFER business, you are encouraged to print the pledge to display in your store window. Your business will be listed on the Kent’s SAFER Businesses page.
